BANGKOK, Thailand – The Ministry of Tourism and Sports held its first official meeting to prepare for the FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship 2025, with Minister Sorawong Thienthong presiding in his role as advisor to the Organizing Committee. The meeting discussed operational planning and Thailand’s readiness to host one of international volleyball’s most prominent tournaments.
Scheduled to take place from August 22 to September 7, the championship will feature 32 national teams from around the world. These teams have qualified through regional competitions and will be divided into eight pools of four teams each for the preliminary round.
Matches in the opening stage will be hosted across four cities in Thailand. Chiang Mai will represent the northern region, Nakhon Ratchasima the northeast, Phuket the south, and Bangkok the central region. Each location will serve as a hub for group-stage competition.
The tournament’s knockout rounds, including the Round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals, and final, will be held at Indoor Stadium Huamark in Bangkok. This venue has previously hosted major international sports events and will serve as the central arena for the championship’s final stages.
The Ministry of Tourism and Sports continues preparations in coordination with the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) to ensure a successful tournament across all stages of competition. (NNT)
