SA KAEO, Thailand – The Royal Thai Army conducted a realistic combat readiness drill near the Thai-Cambodian border to ensure preparedness for future missions. The exercise, held at Ban Nong Sang in Aranyaprathet District, was overseen by Major General Benjapol Dechatiwong Na Ayutthaya, Commander of the 2nd Infantry Division, King’s Guard, in his capacity as commander of the Eastern Border Task Force.

The drill featured the deployment of troops and armored infantry equipment from the 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, to a staging area at Border Patrol Police Company 126 in Parai Subdistrict. The operation aimed to simulate rapid response scenarios to potential developments along the border and to evaluate coordination among units under real-time conditions.

Maj. Gen. Benjapol emphasized strict discipline, unity of command, and maintaining a strong public image, noting that visible displays of capability boost confidence among border communities. He instructed all ranks to stay mission-ready, uphold military standards, and care for the welfare and morale of subordinates.

The readiness check forms part of routine procedures, but also serves to reassure the public that border security remains a top priority amid regional and global uncertainties. The Eastern Border Task Force plays a key role in safeguarding national sovereignty and supporting peace and order in Thailand’s frontier provinces. (TNA)
