Deputy Minister Nan Boonthida Somchai opens Ubon Ratchathani’s new PDPA Center, bringing personal data protection advice and complaint services closer to residents.

UBON RATCHATHANI, Thailand – Deputy Minister of Digital Economy and Society Nan Boonthida Somchai inaugurated the Ubon Ratchathani PDPA Center on August 17, to enhance public access to personal data protection services at the provincial level. Located at Mueang Ubon Ratchathani Police Station, the center enables residents, government agencies, businesses, and local entrepreneurs to seek advice, exercise data protection rights, and file complaints more efficiently.

Personal Data Protection Committee (PDPC) Secretary-General, Police Colonel Surapong Plengkham, stated that the regional center will reduce distance barriers and provide individuals with direct access to advice and assistance. The center also promotes awareness and works to prevent risks to personal data before harm occurs.

Ubon Ratchathani is a key hub in the lower Northeast, with significant digital activity among government agencies, local authorities, educational institutions, businesses, and residents. The center will support compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act and encourage responsible data practices that respect individual rights.

The opening event featured presentations on personal data protection law, risk prevention, and safe online practices, along with practical workshops and exhibitions from partner organizations.

The center will coordinate with the Digital Ministry, Royal Thai Police, National Statistical Office, government agencies, private organizations, and local networks to provide consultations, receive complaints, and refer cases for legal action. PDPA Centers currently operate in Nakhon Sawan, Chon Buri, Nakhon Ratchasima, Songkhla, and Chiang Mai. Services will expand to eight provinces in five regions during 2026, with Phuket as the next location. (NNT)
