Members of the public can report overpriced eggs over to DIT hotline 1569 or to any provincial commercial offices and those who are found selling overpriced eggs will be fined up to 140,000 baht or face up to 7 years of prison sentence, or both.

Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade Wattanasak Sur-iam said the department has discussed with the Layer Farmer Association and its partners, which resulted in the association and layer chicken farmers having agreed to pin an egg price at 2.90 baht (mixed sizes egg at farms) until the expensive consumer goods situation is resolved.
