BANGKOK, Thailand – Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul convened a bilateral meeting with Bhutanese Ambassador Kinzang Dorji and his delegation to discuss preparations for the upcoming royal visit of Their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand to Bhutan. The meeting, held at the Ministry of Interior, addressed a range of diplomatic and cooperative matters between the two countries.
Their Majesties are scheduled to make an official state visit to Bhutan from April 25 to 28, 2025, at the invitation of His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck. This will be the first overseas state visit undertaken by the Thai monarch during his reign. The occasion highlights the close historical ties between the royal families of Thailand and Bhutan and the continued strengthening of bilateral relations.
During the meeting, Ambassador Dorji confirmed Bhutan’s readiness to welcome the Thai monarchs and conveyed the goodwill of the Bhutanese people. Thai officials regard the visit as an opportunity to deepen the relationship between the two kingdoms, both at the diplomatic level and through greater people-to-people engagement.
Anutin also reviewed the progress of existing cooperative agreements, reaffirming Thailand’s support in areas such as education and labor. This includes continued scholarship opportunities for Bhutanese students studying in Thailand, as well as support for Bhutanese nationals working in the country. (NNT)
