TAT and AirAsia team up to expand flights, launch a Kuala Lumpur–Hua Hin route, and attract more Malaysian visitors through 2026–2029.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and AirAsia Group have signed a three-year memorandum of understanding covering 2026–2029 to promote travel to Thailand under the “Amazing Thailand: Feel All the Feelings” campaign. The agreement was signed in Kuala Lumpur in the presence of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and witnessed by Tourism and Sports Minister Surasak Phancharoenworakul, along with a group of high-ranking government officials.

Surasak said the government is working with AirAsia to increase flight frequencies and restore services to pre-fuel-crisis levels, while expanding direct air links to regional destinations, including Hua Hin and provinces in northeastern and northern Thailand. He added that the opening of the new Sadao Border Checkpoint is expected to improve road travel for Malaysian visitors entering Thailand by private vehicle.

Under the agreement, TAT and AirAsia will conduct joint marketing campaigns through the airline’s communication channels and organize promotional activities to attract more visitors. The partnership also includes plans to launch the first direct Kuala Lumpur–Hua Hin route, giving travelers another option for short trips centered on shopping, dining, and cultural attractions.

Thailand welcomed more than 2.13 million Malaysian visitors between January 1 and July 7, making Malaysia the country’s second-largest international tourism market. Officials expect expanded air connectivity and more efficient border crossings to help raise arrivals to the 2026 target of 4.825 million Malaysian visitors. (NNT)
