SISAKET, Thailand – A Thai villager detained by Cambodian forces after crossing the border last month was repatriated on Friday following coordinated efforts by military authorities to ease border tensions. Mr. Yote, who was detained on April 25 by Cambodian soldiers while foraging for forest products along the border in Surin province’s Kap Choeng district, was handed over to Thai authorities at 11:00 a.m. at the Chong Sa-ngam checkpoint in Phusing district, Sisaket province.
The Second Army Region facilitated the repatriation through the Regional Border Committee (RBC) framework, a bilateral mechanism utilized to manage border affairs and prevent escalation between the two nations. Officials reported that Yote appeared to be in good health, with no visible signs of injury or physical harm upon his return. (TNA)
