Border on Edge – Thai military sends reinforcements to Tak province as Myanmar conflict intensifies just across the border.

TAK, Thailand – Thailand’s Naresuan Force has deployed troops to the Phop Phra district of Tak province after Myanmar military aircraft conducted heavy bombings against resistance forces attacking a Myanmar army base.

Intense fighting is expected to continue as resistance groups aim to seize seven Myanmar military bases opposite Phop Phra.

Earlier today, Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and allied resistance fighters launched a heavily armed assault on the Myanmar Army’s Chedi Khao base in Myawaddy. Drone strikes by Karen forces forced Myanmar troops to retreat, leading to Myanmar airstrikes on Karen positions near the Thai border. While no ordnance has landed on Thai soil, the explosions have alarmed local residents.

Major General Maitree Chupreecha, Commander of the Naresuan Force, has sent Task Force Rajamanu troops to reinforce the border. Fighting persists as resistance forces encircle the Myanmar base. Local authorities are preparing for potential refugees, and Thai forces are monitoring the situation around the clock. (TNA)
