Deputy Government Spokesperson Patdarasm Thongsaluaykorn outlines new school safety measures covering student protection, online threats, AI risks and incident reporting.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The government is enhancing school safety, increasing accountability for administrators, and developing a Traffy Fondue reporting system to address student safety and online risks. Deputy Government Spokesperson Patdarasm Thongsaluaykorn announced on October 5, 2026, that the Ministry of Education is advancing measures on school security, online threats, artificial intelligence, student rights, and equal access to education.

Preventive measures include screening visitors, checking for sharp or prohibited items, and monitoring risks within schools. The ministry has also established the Center for the Protection of Rights, Liberties and Safety in Educational Institutions, which focuses on prevention, incident reporting, investigation, and assistance. A real-time reporting channel via LINE Traffy Fondue is being developed to improve coordination with authorities. Administrators who conceal incident information may face serious disciplinary action.

The ministry is also preparing amendments to the Criminal Code to address online offenses against children, develop an international framework for AI use, set age-appropriate screen-time guidelines, and engage with social media platforms to prevent cyberbullying. The ministry has reaffirmed its strict prohibition on forcibly cutting students’ hair. Schools are instructed to consider students’ perspectives when setting or revising hairstyle regulations, while maintaining appropriate discipline. The spokesperson stated that the government will continue working with relevant agencies to protect students, address technological risks, and ensure equal access to education for all children. (NNT)
