BANGKOK, 27 March 2014 The Geo Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) has revealed that a Thai satellite has detected 300 floating objects in the southern Indian Ocean, near the multinational search area for the missing Malaysia Airlines MH 370.

The Thaichote satellite acquired the images of the objects on March 24 at 10:07 a.m. local time. The location of the objects is about 2,700 kilometers from Perth, Australia. The length of the objects varies from 2 meters to 20 meters.

It cannot be independently verified whether the floating objects are parts of plane wreckage and more tests are required.

The Thaichote, or Thailand Earth Observation Satellite, is a remote sensing satellite used for natural resources observation.

The Ministry of Science and Technology, which oversees GISTDA has been cooperating with the Malaysian authorities in locating the missing jet.

The satellite findings have been submitted to Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.
