Thai prison monitors health conditions of Premchai convicted for black panther hunting

The doctor found that Premchai had many chronic diseases including hypertension and fatty liver and he had just undergone cataract surgery, Ayut said.

Premchai Karnasuta, president of Italian-Thai Development pcl, who was sentenced to jail for illegal hunting in a wildlife sanctuary four years ago suffered many illnesses, said the director-general of the Corrections Department.



Ayut Sintoppant, the director-general, said Premchai was sent to the Thong Pha Phum prison on Wednesday (Dec 8) to serve his term of two years and 14 months for charges related to his hunting in the Thungyai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary and this morning a doctor from Thong Pha Phum Hospital was monitoring his physical conditions.


The doctor found that Premchai had many chronic diseases including hypertension and fatty liver and he had just undergone cataract surgery, Mr. Ayut said.

Premchai would be quarantined for 21 days before being sent to a normal cell and doctors from Thong Pha Phum Hospital were able to take care of his health for the time being, the director-general said.



For Mr. Premchai’s chronic diseases, doctors could make relevant decisions in the future, he said. (TNA)
