Thai PM opens new chapter in Thailand–Vietnam relations, boosts trade and investment

Bilateral business ties discussed with top executives from SOVICO Group and FPT Corporation to explore expansion into Thailand.

HANOI, Vietnam – Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra arrived at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, accompanied by a delegation including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Suriya Jungrungreangkit; Minister of Foreign Affairs Maris Sangiampongsa; Minister of Tourism and Sports Sorawong Thienthong; Deputy Minister of Finance Julapun Amornvivat; Secretary-General to the Prime Minister Prommin Lertsuridej; and Thai Trade Representative Chai Watcharong.

They were officially welcomed by H.E. Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam, serving as the honorary minister, H.E. Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, and H.E. Mr. Pham Viet Hung, Ambassador of Vietnam to Thailand.



According to Mr. Jirayu, the Prime Minister’s first mission of the day was a meeting with the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (ThaiCham) at the Melia Hotel Hanoi, where the delegation was staying.

The Prime Minister also held discussions with executives from two major Vietnamese companies: SOVICO Group (Vietjet Air) and FPT Corporation, aiming to expand their operations and investments in Thailand.

In the afternoon, the Prime Minister paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Tran Thanh Man, Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, before attending an official dinner reception hosted in her honor by H.E. Mr. Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister of Vietnam, at the Government House of Vietnam that evening. (PRD)
