Following a tightly packed diplomatic mission to Cambodia, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra was admitted to the hospital late Thursday night with a high fever. Her scheduled duties have been postponed while doctors conduct further examinations.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Following her official visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra fell ill and was admitted to the hospital last night due to a high fever.

Government Spokesperson Jirayu Huangsap revealed that Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra had just returned from her diplomatic trip to Cambodia, which spanned Wednesday through Thursday with back-to-back engagements. She departed Cambodia around 2:00 p.m. on Thursday and arrived back in Thailand by 3:30 p.m. Later that evening, she developed a mild fever, which escalated after arriving home, prompting a hospital visit at approximately 9:00 p.m.

Doctors recommended immediate admission for thorough examination and monitoring. Another check-up was scheduled for the following morning.

As a result, all of today’s scheduled appointments at Government House involving the Prime Minister have been postponed. Deputy Prime Ministers and the Prime Minister’s Secretary-General have been assigned to handle all ongoing duties in her absence.

Meanwhile, her husband, Pidok Suksawad, posted an Instagram Story at 1:43 a.m., showing a photo of the Prime Minister resting in a hospital bed, with a caption implying concern over her pushing through despite health warnings. (NNT)
