BANGKOK, Thailand – The government is moving to advance Thailand’s meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions (MICE) industry as a major driver of economic growth and tourism, following a meeting between Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), and private-sector representatives. The meeting was attended by TCEB Chairman Dr. Pasu Loharjun, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Naphinthorn Srisanpang, Industry Minister Varawut Silpa-archa, senior tourism officials, and representatives from leading business organizations. Anutin expressed readiness to support continued development of the MICE sector to attract international business events, increase visitor spending, and generate wider economic benefits for communities and businesses across the country.
TCEB presented five priority proposals, including measures to improve the ease of doing business, introduce tax incentives, expand MICE activities to regional areas, promote Thailand in overseas markets, and increase support for major international events. The bureau also proposed a Super License system to help attract large-scale conventions, exhibitions, and investment.
The proposal is expected to help support current and future efforts to expand tourism, attract high-value visitors, and create new business opportunities across multiple industries, increasing Thailand’s competitiveness in the international MICE market. (NNT)
