
BANGKOK, Thailand – Permanent Secretary for Tourism and Sports Natthriya Thaweevong has congratulated Thai para athletes, coaches, sports associations, and officials for their achievements at major international competitions, including the 13th ASEAN Para Games, the 5th Asian Youth Para Games, and recent world and Asian championships.
Natthriya, during a ceremony to present prize money and recognize the achievements, conveyed appreciation on behalf of the government and the public, stating that the athletes’ performances brought pride to the country and demonstrated Thailand’s capability on the international stage. The results were credited to the athletes’ discipline and determination, supported by close coordination among coaches, officials, and partner organizations.
Thailand finished as the overall top medal-winning nation at the 13th ASEAN Para Games, earning 175 gold, 155 silver, and 156 bronze medals, with more than 128 million baht in prize money allocated across four national sports associations. At the 5th Asian Youth Para Games, Thai youth para athletes placed fourth overall, securing 36 gold, 36 silver, and 33 bronze medals.
Further prize money was awarded for performances at world and Asian championship events across multiple sports. The permanent secretary expressed hope that the recognition would encourage athletes and support teams to continue strengthening their performance, while reaffirming the government’s support for the sustained and systematic development of para sports in Thailand.
