King Power, the Thai-owned group behind Leicester City, is reportedly exploring a possible sale of the club after 15 years of ownership.

LEICESTER, UK – Leicester City’s Thai ownership era could be coming to an end, with reports that the club’s owners, King Power, are exploring the possibility of selling the Premier League champions. The Financial Times reported that King Power has appointed investment bank Citigroup to help assess interest from potential buyers and explore options for a possible takeover of the “Foxes.” Sky Sports also reported that an unnamed Middle Eastern company has shown interest in acquiring the club, with advisers already presenting club information and financial details to several potential investors. Reports suggest King Power is seeking a valuation of between £450 million and £530 million (around 20 billion baht).

The potential sale comes nearly 15 years after King Power took control of Leicester City and guided the club through one of football’s most remarkable success stories. The highlight came in the 2015–16 season, when Leicester defied expectations to win the Premier League title for the first time in the club’s history. However, the club has faced growing financial difficulties in recent years. Leicester were deducted six points for breaching financial regulations and suffered significant losses, reportedly recording an annual deficit of £71.1 million. After relegation from the Premier League, Leicester are set to compete in League One next season, marking another difficult chapter for a club that once captured global attention with its historic title triumph. A potential sale would mark a major turning point for King Power, whose ownership transformed Leicester from a Championship side into one of football’s most celebrated underdog success stories. (Photo: MGR Online)
