Deputy Prime Minister Yodchanan Wongsawat and Agriculture Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit inspect flood-hit areas in Nan after torrential rain caused widespread flooding.

NAN, Thailand – Deputy Prime Minister Yodchanan Wongsawat and Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit visited Nan province on August 19 to inspect flood conditions after heavy rain triggered flash floods, mountain runoff, and overflowing rivers. Pua district recorded 277.6 millimeters of rain within 24 hours, sending large volumes of water into surrounding communities. Flooding has affected Pua, Phu Phiang, Santi Suk, and Tha Wang Pha districts, with water reaching about 0.5 to 1.2 meters in some locations.

Yodchanan and Suriya received briefings from local agencies on water management and relief operations. The Royal Irrigation Department has deployed pumps in the capital district and Wiang Sa to accelerate drainage and assigned personnel to monitor vulnerable areas. Suriya later instructed irrigation agencies to monitor rainfall and water levels around the clock, keeping machinery and pumps ready for immediate use. Drainage and assistance will continue until conditions improve. (NNT)
