BANGKOK, Thailand – The Royal Thai Navy has expressed appreciation to the Royal Navy of Oman for assisting Thai crew members following an explosion aboard the cargo vessel MV Mayuree Naree near the Strait of Hormuz. The incident forced crew members to abandon the ship, after which Omani naval forces carried out a rescue operation that brought 20 Thai sailors safely ashore.

Admiral Pairoj Fueangchan, commander-in-chief of the Royal Thai Navy, sent an urgent message to Rear Admiral Saif bin Nasser Al Rahbi, commander of the Royal Navy of Oman, conveying gratitude for the rapid assistance provided to the stranded crew. The communication underscored the close cooperation between the naval forces of the two countries during the maritime emergency.

Three Thai crew members remain unaccounted for and are believed to still be on board the damaged vessel. Thai naval authorities have requested continued assistance from Oman to intensify search efforts in the area to locate the missing sailors.



The Royal Thai Navy said it is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with relevant agencies and the Royal Thai Embassy in Muscat to support rescue and assistance operations.
