Ekniti Nitithanprapas held talks with Ajay Banga in Washington, D.C., focusing on low-carbon development, digital finance, and AI-driven economic growth, as preparations continue for the IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings 2026.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas has met with World Bank President Ajay Banga in Washington, D.C., to discuss cooperation and Thailand’s role in upcoming global economic engagements.

The meeting covered collaboration between Thailand and the World Bank, including low-carbon urban development projects that support clean energy and a transition toward a greener economy. Both sides also discussed expanding access to financial services through digital technology.



The talks addressed the use of digital finance and artificial intelligence to improve skills, productivity, and living standards. The World Bank acknowledged progress in applying these tools to bolster economic capacity and enhance financial access.

The two sides also reviewed preparations for the IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings scheduled for October 2026 in Bangkok, a great opportunity for Thailand to present its development approach and regional economic progress to an international audience. (NNT)
