SA KAEO, Thailand –The Royal Thai Armed Forces have begun installing an “electronic fence” and closed-circuit cameras (CCTV) along the Aranyaprathet border to strengthen security and national safety, according to the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters.
On September 18, the first CCTV pole was installed near Border Marker 50, behind the Klong Luek checkpoint in Aranyaprathet district, Sa Kaeo province, under the jurisdiction of the Eastern Military Command.
The initial setup includes three cameras: one Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) camera and two fixed cameras. In addition, the installation features a lighting system powered by solar energy and a 512GB storage card capable of recording footage for up to 30 days.
During the installation, the 12th Ranger Battalion cleared dense vegetation across the wall to ensure the cameras had a clear line of sight. Coordination with the 12th Mobile Development Unit (Npk.12) is ongoing, with plans to further improve the surrounding area.
The deployment of this first CCTV pole marks a significant milestone in Thailand’s electronic border fence project. Officials said it will allow authorities to monitor and prevent potential threats more effectively, enhancing long-term border security and national safety.
