Thai King and Queen present sacred relics at Buddhist ceremony in Bhutan to strengthen diplomatic and spiritual ties

During their state visit to Bhutan, the King and Queen of Thailand participated in a sacred Buddhist chanting ceremony at the Buddha Dordenma statue, where they presented holy relics to the Bhutanese royal family, reinforcing the deep friendship between the two nations.

BHUTAN – During the state visit to Bhutan on 26 April 2025, their Majesties, the King and Queen of Thailand, attended a sacred Buddhist chanting ceremony at the revered Buddha Dordenma statue. The ceremony, offering auspicious blessings, brought together 74 monks from the Thai monastic order and 74 from the Bhutanese monastic order.

During this momentous occasion, Their Majesties presented sacred relics of Lord Buddha to His Majesty the Druk Gyalpo and Her Majesty the Queen of Bhutan. These holy relics will be permanently enshrined at the Buddha Dordenma statue, symbolizing the deep friendship and enduring bond between Thailand and Bhutan.

The ceremony not only celebrated Buddhist traditions shared by both kingdoms but also reinforced the close diplomatic and spiritual connections that have flourished between these two Buddhist nations. (PRD)
