The Interior Ministry has confirmed that there can be New Year celebrations as planned but organizers must prioritize public safety.
The ministry said that it did not have any policy or order for governmental organizations or any private organization under its jurisdiction to refrain from New Year transitional parties this weekend.
However, the ministry instructed provincial governors to work out measures with relevant organizations to guarantee public safety at New Year parties in their respective provinces.
Officials concerned will check the conditions and safety features including fire extinguishing systems of New Year party venues and will watch out for possible crowd crushes to prevent such a tragedy which happened overseas. (TNA)
