Anutin said the notice addressed all concerns about cannabis abuse and limited cannabis use to people aged 20 years and over and younger people would not have any access to cannabis without a doctor’s prescription and prohibited cannabis use and smoking in public.

Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said he signed a notice of the Ministry of Public Health to regulate cannabis use and allay all concerns about cannabis decriminalization.

In a meeting on the proper and safe use of cannabis with officials concerned, Mr Anutin said he already signed the notice on cannabis use control as proposed by the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine.

The notice addressed all concerns about cannabis abuse. It limited cannabis use to people aged 20 years and over and younger people would not have any access to cannabis without a doctor’s prescription, Mr Anutin said.

Besides, the notice prohibited cannabis use and smoking in public. It would be a tool for officials to use to cope with the impacts of improper cannabis use, he said.

Saneh Somsri, president of an association of restaurateurs in five regions, said he supported the use of cannabis as a food ingredient to increase consumers’ choices. (TNA)
