BANGKOK, Thailand – Minister of Public Health Pattana Promphat confirmed that the Ministry is fully prepared to implement emergency healthcare measures for Thai nationals returning from the Middle East.

Following directives from Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, the Ministry has established a three-part protocol focused on physical health, mental well-being, and communicable disease control.

The mobilization plan covers four key aviation hubs. The Department of Medical Services manages health screenings at Don Mueang International Airport and Air Force Wing 6. The Samut Prakan Provincial Public Health Office oversees Suvarnabhumi Airport, while the Rayong Provincial Public Health Office is responsible for U-Tapao International Airport. The Department of Disease Control has deployed surveillance teams at all sites to reduce the risk of imported infectious diseases.

To address the psychological impact of the crisis, the Department of Mental Health has deployed specialist teams to provide on-site counseling and trauma screening at Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, and Wing 6. Mental Health Center 6 supports these efforts at U-Tapao.

According to Permanent Secretary of Public Health Somlerk Jeungsmarn, returnees requiring urgent medical care will be transferred to specialized facilities, including the Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute for isolation and treatment. Provincial public health offices will provide ongoing follow-up care to support long-term recovery once citizens return to their home provinces. (NNT)
