BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has condemned the recent gun and pipe-bomb attack in Ra-ngae district, Narathiwat province, which claimed the lives of five Ranger Force personnel and injured two civilians. The government has directed security agencies to identify those responsible, proceed with legal action, and provide immediate assistance to those affected by the incident. Government Spokesperson Rachada Dhnadirek said the prime minister has instructed the Fourth Army Area, the Internal Security Operations Command Region 4 Forward Command, and other agencies to coordinate efforts in the investigation. He also ordered a review of security operations, including intelligence sharing and preventive measures, to improve protection for personnel and communities in the southern border provinces.
Anutin also directed the defense minister to travel to Narathiwat to assess the situation, inspect security operations, meet with relevant agencies, and develop additional measures to improve security and help prevent similar incidents. The government has extended condolences to the families of the five fallen soldiers and directed relevant agencies to provide full assistance, welfare support, and compensation to the victims and their families. Rachada said authorities will continue pursuing those responsible through legal proceedings while maintaining support for communities affected by the violence. (NNT)
