BANGKOK, Thailand – The government has announced two new loan programs to assist those impacted by the recent earthquake, offering financial relief for urgent expenses and long-term recovery. The programs, developed in collaboration with the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC), aim to support residents in repairing their homes, restoring agricultural assets, and accessing emergency working capital.
The first program, the Emergency Expense Loan, enables eligible individuals to borrow up to 50,000 baht at 0% interest for the first six months. After that period, the bank’s minimum retail rate (MRR) will apply. The second program, the Rehabilitation and Quality of Life Improvement Loan, offers up to 500,000 baht per applicant at an interest rate of MRR minus two percent per year.
A total budget of 20 billion baht has been allocated to support these efforts. Applicants can use the funds for repairing residential properties, rehabilitating farm buildings and equipment, or financing immediate livelihood needs to support the resumption of work and agricultural production.
The BAAC has opened all its branches nationwide to accept applications for these loans, with a deadline of September 30, 2025. (NNT)
