BANGKOK – Luc Stevens, the United Nations resident coordinator in Thailand, paid a courtesy call to Thai Foreign Affairs Minister Don Pramudwinai.

The United Nations resident coordinator urged Thailand to bring back democracy and said the United Nations will appreciate collaboration with Thailand in all aspects. The United Nations tends to extend cooperation with Thailand though it has been suspended since 2014.

The Thai foreign minister explained about Thailand’s political situation and human rights issues and said Thailand is now proceeding on the roadmap’s second stage and all suggestions about the draft constitution are being considered.

Touching on the human rights issue, Don said Thai citizens, especially including the media, still have freedom of expression in every way. Moreover, he said, Thailand can be considered to be the most flexible state in terms of freedom of expression in the Southeast Asia region.
