Thai Foreign Minister Maris joins China and Cambodia in trilateral talks to promote border peace and landmine clearance.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand’s Foreign Minister Maris Sengmangpong has accepted an invitation from China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi to participate in informal trilateral discussions with Chinese and Cambodian counterparts, aimed at peacefully resolving border issues. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 10th Mekong–Lancang Cooperation (MLC) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Anning, Yunnan Province.



Maris expressed gratitude for China’s constructive role in supporting peaceful resolutions between Thailand and Cambodia through bilateral mechanisms and in ensuring effective adherence to ceasefire agreements, with ASEAN backing. He emphasized the urgent need for Thai and Cambodian cooperation in clearing landmines along the border, and all parties agreed on the importance of avoiding the spread of misleading information on social media to reduce tensions and restore normalcy in the border areas.


The Thai Foreign Minister also thanked Wang Yi for China’s continued support and noted that these discussions are expected to continue during the upcoming Regional Border Committee (RBC) meeting. (TNA)
