BANGKOK, Thailand – Lieutenant General Boonsin Padklang, Commander of Thailand’s 2nd Army Region, stated on Tuesday that he harbors no resentment toward Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra over the recently leaked audio clip of her phone conversation with former Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.
Speaking to reporters, Lt. Gen. Boonsin said the Prime Minister personally called him to clarify the purpose and content of the conversation. She explained that her intention was to de-escalate tensions along the Thai-Cambodian border and that the call was part of a behind-the-scenes effort to maintain peace.
“I told the Prime Minister, ‘I have no issues. I understand,’” said Boonsin, affirming that he accepted the explanation and appreciated her reaching out.
He emphasized that his focus remains on serving the country and acting in the best interests of the Thai people, and that the conversation with the Prime Minister helped clear the air.
The Army Region 2 chief also noted that he was en route to visit military personnel who had been injured during recent border operations, adding that he continues his duties as normal without any disruptions. (TNA)
