A temporary shelter in Mueang Det subdistrict has welcomed 92 residents from Dom Pradit, including children, the elderly, and people with disabilities, as authorities coordinate relief and monitor the evolving situation.

UBON RATCHATHANI, Thailand – A temporary shelter in Mueang Det subdistrict, Ubon Ratchathani province, is steadily receiving evacuees as tensions rise along the Thai–Cambodian border. Since Saturday (Sept 27), 92 residents from Dom Pradit subdistrict have arrived, including bedridden patients, people with disabilities, seven elderly individuals, and 25 children. Many more are expected as village leaders continue to broadcast updates and urge families to move to safety.

Most of those seeking refuge came prepared, having been advised in advance to keep essential belongings packed and ready. Past displacement experiences also helped them plan ahead, ensuring they could bring necessary items to ease the transition into temporary housing.

The Mueang Det Subdistrict Administrative Organization has deployed health volunteers, assistant village heads, and nurses to manage the shelter. They are registering arrivals, arranging accommodation, and providing food. Authorities are using at least 400 kilograms of rice stored from previous emergency operations to cook meals for the evacuees.

Other Dom Pradit residents have also begun relocating, though in smaller numbers. Officials are monitoring conditions closely and preparing to accommodate additional families if the situation escalates.

To coordinate the response, Ubon Ratchathani province has established a command center to oversee operations and ensure that support reaches affected communities as developments along the border continue. (NNT)
