BANGKOK, Thailand – A 14-year-old boy suffered a serious hand injury after a group of teenagers allegedly attacked him with a knife at a PTT petrol station on Rama III Road late on October 3.
Police from Bang Phong Phang Police Station and Poh Teck Tung Foundation rescuers were called to the petrol station at around 11.50 p.m. after reports of a group assault involving weapons.
Rescuers found the 14-year-old with a severe injury to his left hand. He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital. Other members of his group were also reportedly assaulted.
One of the victims told reporters that he and his friends had ridden motorcycles from the Wat Sai area on Rama III Road and stopped at the petrol station to refuel before travelling to Chon Buri to meet another friend.
While they were at the station, several motorcycles carrying a group of teenagers approached them. Some of the motorcycles reportedly carried three people. The group allegedly shouted at them, asking which group they belonged to, before the confrontation escalated into an assault.
The victim said the attackers were carrying several weapons, including knives and spears, and claimed they also had firearms and explosives. One of the attackers allegedly used a knife to slash the 14-year-old, seriously injuring his left hand.
The attackers then fled the scene on motorcycles, leaving the victims at the petrol station.
Bang Phong Phang police are reviewing the details of the incident and examining CCTV footage from the petrol station to identify those involved and pursue legal action. (TNA)
