The Tourism Authority of Thailand has announced schedule and format changes to major events, including the Maha Loy Krathong festivals in Ayutthaya and Sukhothai and the Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok 2025, ensuring a respectful tone during the national mourning period while maintaining Thailand’s cultural and tourism activities.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced adjustments to event schedules and formats planned for October–November 2025, following the announcement of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother on October 24, 2025. The changes are being made to express respect and remembrance, with TAT outlining three approaches: postponing certain events, modifying activity formats, and replacing some activities with religious and cultural programs to ensure appropriateness during the mourning period.

The Maha Loy Krathong @ Ayutthaya festival will proceed from November 2–6, 2025, at Wat Phra Ram in the Ayutthaya Historical Park as scheduled, but with adjustments to ensure a solemn and respectful atmosphere, including the cancellation of fireworks. The event will feature cultural performances, musical presentations of royal compositions, demonstrations of traditional crafts, hands-on creative workshops for visitors, and the sale of local handicrafts and regional foods in a nostalgic setting designed to reflect remembrance and tribute.

Similarly, Maha Loy Krathong @ Sukhothai will take place from October 27–November 5, 2025, at Wat Chana Songkhram in Sukhothai Historical Park in Sukhothai Province. The event will highlight traditional cultural activities, local craft demonstrations, markets for regional products, and performances incorporating royal musical compositions. A candlelighting ceremony will be held daily at 9:21 p.m. to express mourning and gratitude.

Meanwhile, the Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok 2025, scheduled for November 30, 2025, from MBK Center to Sanam Luang, will also proceed as planned with adjustments to the event tone.
