SURIN, Thailand – Commander of the 2nd Army Area Lieutenant General Boonsin Padklang has thanked the Thai people for visiting three historic border temples: Prasat Ta Muen Thom, Prasat Ta Khwai, and Prasat Ta Muen Tot, in Surin province following his public invitation to boost local tourism.
He reported that a steady stream of visitors recently arrived at all three sites, with numbers notably higher than before his public invitation. He noted a particularly warm atmosphere at Prasat Ta Muen Thom, where visitors also brought items to encourage the soldiers on duty.
Military personnel from the 211th Infantry Company provided security and assistance to visitors at Prasat Ta Muen Thom. Between 9AM and 3PM, they recorded 742 Thai visitors. This group included 311 men, 392 women, ten children, 27 monks, and one nun. One foreign tourist also visited the site.
At Prasat Ta Khwai in Phanom Dong Rak District, the 22nd Infantry Company facilitated visits for 91 Thai tourists. The group was composed of 35 men, 48 women, four children, and four monks.
Lieutenant General Boonsin expressed his gratitude to the public for visiting the ancient sites. He thanked them for supporting the troops, whom he called “their children and grandchildren,” and for stimulating the local economy by purchasing local goods. (NNT)
