SISAKET, Thailand – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Suphajee Suthumpun has instructed agencies to position Sisaket beef cattle as a premium product and expedite export opportunities to Vietnam and China to boost local farmers’ incomes. During a visit to Kritsada Beef Cattle Farm in Benchalak district, Sisaket province, on August 23, 2026, the Deputy Prime Minister met with farmers and business operators to address industry challenges. She noted that the beef industry, which generated about 2.9 billion baht for the province in 2025, requires comprehensive development across the value chain, including farming, quality standards, processing, branding, and market access.
The Deputy Prime Minister tasked the Department of Intellectual Property with exploring branding and storytelling linked to Sisaket’s identity, and the Department of Business Development with supporting branding and entrepreneurship. For international expansion, the government is prioritizing Vietnam and China, following Kritsada Farm’s certification as an animal export quarantine facility on July 8, 2025. The Department of Livestock Development will coordinate standards and negotiations with destination countries. The Department of Foreign Trade will manage licensing, while the Department of Internal Trade will support domestic markets and business matching. The Department of International Trade Promotion will link producers with overseas buyers through Thailand’s commercial attaché network.
Officials will also evaluate suitable economic crops and contract-farming options to provide farmers with stable markets and greater production certainty. Proposals for slaughterhouse facilities, financing, and equipment will be coordinated with relevant agencies. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the strategy seeks to reduce reliance on intermediaries, expand direct exports, and ensure more income reaches local farming communities. (NNT)
