SUKHOTHAI, Thailand – The Sukhothai Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command Center has issued an urgent warning as rising water from Phrae province flows into the Yom River, raising the risk of flooding in low-lying areas.

Officials have advised residents near the river to remain alert and prepare for possible evacuation. People are urged to move belongings to higher ground and ensure the safety of vulnerable groups, including the elderly, people with disabilities, and those who are ill.

Local administrative organizations and district offices have been instructed to prepare personnel, vehicles, and equipment for a 24-hour response. Emergency assistance must be ready to deploy if water levels exceed the riverbanks.

Relevant agencies have also been mobilized to monitor the situation and support flood relief operations. Continuous runoff is expected to push river levels higher throughout the day and into the night.

Residents are encouraged to follow official updates and cooperate with local authorities to ensure safety as conditions continue to develop. (NNT)
