SRI RACHA, Thailand – Hours of heavy rain caused severe flooding across several parts of Sri Racha, with water rising above 1 meter in some areas and trapping more than 100 residents inside their homes. The worst conditions were reported in Moo 5, Nong Kham subdistrict, where floodwater rose to chest level inside parts of a residential community. Many residents were unable to leave by vehicle or on foot and called for help.
After receiving reports of people trapped by the rising water, Sri Racha district officials, Chaophraya Surasak City Municipality and Sawang Prateep Sri Racha rescue workers deployed teams to the area.
Rescuers brought four flat-bottomed boats and a speedboat to reach flooded homes and evacuate residents who needed to leave for safer areas. Operations continued through the afternoon.
Officials said the affected area is a low-lying basin where water from surrounding areas flows together, causing levels to rise rapidly after prolonged rainfall. With roads and walking routes submerged, boats became the main means of reaching residents. Authorities continued monitoring water levels and rainfall while evacuating people from the worst-affected areas.
