House Speaker Wannor Matha assures Parliament is ready to vote for a new prime minister this week, urging parties to coordinate for a smooth, timely government formation.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Wannor Matha, Speaker of the House of Representatives, confirmed that Parliament is prepared to vote for a new prime minister this week, emphasizing the need for all parties to be ready to ensure a smooth transition.

The House agenda has been set for September 3–5. On September 3, members will consider legislation, while sessions on September 4 for government queries were canceled due to the dissolution of the previous Cabinet following the Constitutional Court’s ruling that Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra is no longer a minister. On September 5, the House will focus on special legislative items that require urgent attention.

Wannor noted that the vote for a new prime minister can proceed either through urgent proposals submitted at least one day in advance or as a special urgent agenda, allowing members sufficient preparation. He encouraged party whips and eligible political parties to coordinate proposals promptly.

“The House is ready to move forward as soon as members are prepared,” Wannor said, stressing the importance of swiftly forming a new government to prevent disruptions to the national budget, economic stability, and security. (TNA)
