South Korea provides flood recovery aid to Thailand following talks at Government House

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul meets South Korean Ambassador Park Yong-min at Government House on December 23, as South Korea provides US$500,000 in financial assistance to support flood recovery efforts in southern Thailand.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand has received financial assistance from South Korea to support flood recovery efforts in southern provinces following talks between Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and South Korean Ambassador Park Yong-min at Government House today (Dec 23). Senior officials from the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also attended the meeting.

The Office of the Prime Minister said the South Korean government provided 500,000 US dollars in aid through cooperation with Thailand’s Department of International Cooperation. The funds will be used for post-flood recovery, including the purchase of medical equipment for hospitals and other essential supplies in affected areas.



Prime Minister Anutin expressed appreciation on behalf of the Thai government and people, describing the assistance as a sign of the two countries’ close ties. He said the funds would be managed transparently and used efficiently to support communities impacted by the flooding.

Ambassador Park conveyed sympathy to those affected, noting that he had visited Hat Yai district shortly before the floods. He expressed confidence in Thailand’s recovery efforts and praised the coordinated response by authorities, adding that the donation reflected goodwill from both the South Korean government and its people.

The meeting also covered regional developments, including the situation along the Thailand–Cambodia border. Anutin reiterated Thailand’s position that it seeks peaceful solutions based on facts and mutual respect, while the ambassador expressed understanding and hope that continued dialogue would lead to a peaceful resolution.
