Sihasak holds talks with Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates on Thai nationals and Middle East tensions

Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkeow held separate discussions with officials from Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates on assistance for Thai nationals and regional developments in the Middle East.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkeow recently held separate telephone discussions with Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani and the United Arab Emirates’ Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan during a global conference on fraud. The talks addressed assistance for Thai nationals and developments in the Middle East.

Sihasak expressed appreciation for the support provided to Thai nationals in both countries, including assistance with travel arrangements back to Thailand. He also thanked the United Arab Emirates for helping facilitate the transit of 20 crew members from the vessel Mayuree Naree to Oman for their return journey.

During the discussions, Sihasak conveyed concern about rising tensions in the region and called for a peaceful resolution through diplomatic channels. Thailand also indicated its readiness to support ongoing diplomatic efforts by regional partners, including ASEAN cooperation.

Officials from Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates shared updates on the situation and discussed the incident involving the Mayuree Naree. Both sides stressed the importance of maintaining freedom of navigation in the region as part of broader efforts to ensure maritime stability. (NNT)
