BANGKOK, Thailand – The Royal Thai Navy will conduct four Royal Barge Procession rehearsals along the Chao Phraya River in September ahead of the 2026 Royal Kathin Ceremony. The royal journey will be held also on the auspicious occasion of Her Majesty the Queen’s 48th birthday on June 3, 2026. The rehearsals are scheduled for September 3, 8, 17, and 23. On each date, the Royal Barges will begin moving in formation from near Rama VIII Bridge at 3:00 p.m. and proceed along the Chao Phraya River to Wat Arun Ratchawararam.
Public viewing areas on the Thonburi side include beneath Rama VIII Bridge near the King Rama VIII Monument, the 72nd Anniversary Commemorative Park near Siriraj Hospital, Wat Rakhang Khositaram Pier, and Wat Arun Ratchawararam. On the Phra Nakhon side, spectators may watch from Santichaiprakarn Park, Tha Maharaj Pier, and Tha Chang Pier. Rehearsals will continue weekly in preparation for the Royal Kathin Ceremony on Friday, November 6. The Royal Thai Navy is preparing personnel and barges to ensure the procession is carried out with precision, order, and dignity befitting the royal ceremony. (NNT)
