RAYONG, Thailand — Rayong authorities are monitoring flooding in several areas after at least eight locations across three districts were affected, with water levels reaching around 30–50 centimetres and hundreds of households reporting impacts.
The provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Centre reported the situation at 6:30 a.m. on September 27, with officials deployed to survey affected areas, assist residents and manage traffic.
In Klaeng district, flooding was reported across Ban Na subdistrict, where water reached about 40cm and affected around 60 households. Thung Khwai Kin reported water levels of about 50cm, affecting around 300 households, while Tha Kwian in the Mueang Klaeng municipality had water around 50cm deep across 16 communities, affecting about 300 households.
In Mueang Rayong district, flooding affected all villages in Choeng Noen subdistrict, with water around 40cm deep. Kachet also reported water levels of around 40cm, while about 30cm of water was reported in Moo 1 of Tapong. Residents were advised to avoid flooded roads.
In Wang Chan district, flooding was reported in Plong Ta Iam villages 4 and 6 and Chum Saeng villages 2, 3, 6 and 8, with water levels around 40cm. Officials were still assessing the extent of the impact. A further update at 10 a.m. reported around 20 households, or 30 people, affected in Wang Sai village in Krasae Bon subdistrict, Klaeng. Ban Na had risen to around 100 affected households, while Thung Khwai Kin had around 300 and Tha Kwian around 250.
In Mueang Rayong, around 50 households in Choeng Noen were affected, while assessments were continuing in Kachet, Plong Ta Iam and Chum Saeng. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation also issued Cell Broadcast alerts covering Choeng Noen, Kachet, Samnak Thong, Ban Phe and Tapong in Mueang Rayong, as well as all subdistricts in Ban Khai and Khao Chamao districts.
Rayong has deployed 150 personnel, 30 patrol vehicles, 20 flood warning signs, two evacuation vehicles, two boats, four 14-inch water pumps and two long-distance pumping trucks to support flood response operations. Two temporary shelters have also been prepared: the Buddhist Welfare Association Chinese Shrine in Klaeng, with capacity for about 100 people, and Wat Noen Khedin School, which can accommodate around 60 people.
Officials from the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Regional Centre 17 in Chanthaburi have installed two long-distance pumping systems in Rayong municipality and Noen Phra municipality. Thapma Municipality and the Rayong Irrigation Project have also installed a water-pushing machine near the bridge behind Central Rayong to accelerate drainage. No injuries or deaths have been reported. Officials continue to monitor water levels and high-risk areas while providing assistance and managing traffic.
