Pheu Thai spokesperson Danuporn Punnakanta confirms PM has submitted Cabinet list for royal approval, with party set to address internal rifts and House leadership demands on July 2.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Danuporn Punnakanta, list MP and spokesperson for the Pheu Thai Party, has confirmed that Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has submitted the new Cabinet list for royal endorsement. The finalization of the Cabinet reshuffle is now awaiting a royal command, with the timeline for official announcement yet to be confirmed.

Danuporn also addressed internal tensions within the party, particularly from northeastern MPs who are reportedly dissatisfied with their exclusion from Cabinet posts. Some have demanded the position of second Deputy House Speaker as compensation.

He acknowledged that such political movement is normal during Cabinet reshuffles, stating that “every party experiences pressure when appointments are made, as many members are eager to contribute.” A Pheu Thai Party MPs’ meeting is scheduled for July 2 to discuss various issues ahead of the new parliamentary session beginning July 3.

Regarding the selection of a new second Deputy House Speaker, Danuporn said the vote is likely to take place before July 15. It remains undecided whether Pheu Thai will nominate a northeastern MP for the role or if the seat will be allocated to another party. This matter will also be discussed in the upcoming party meeting. (TNA)
