Bangkok, 11th August 2019 – Government spokesperson Prof Narumon Pinyosinwat said the government has focused on the fundamentals of the economy, a major element of national security, and has set an appropriate national strategy. Prime Minister/Defense Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha is quoted as saying the government will help those who may earn no more than 5,344 baht per month, who account for 26.9 million people or 40% of the population. Most are in the agricultural sector.

The Ministry of Commerce is pushing for the implementation of economic policies, while Deputy Commerce Minister Veerasak Wangsupakitkosol has consulted with directors general and executive officials from various departments for action plans in line with the economic policies.

The Ministry of Commerce has instructed the Department of Business Development to take four measures, via electronic systems, to provide convenience for the business sector and the people, develop local retail stores and strengthen the local economy. The department is promoting the OTOP manufacturing sector and expand franchised businesses.

The SUPPORT Arts and Crafts International Center of Thailand, National Gem and Jewelry Research and Development Institute and International Institute of Trade and Development have applied technology for enhancing business efficiency and promoting trade opportunities and competitiveness. The government is creating understanding with farmers and people under the policy of leaving nobody behind.
