PM Prayut chaired ceremony to commemorate 40 years of Thailand-China diplomatic ties

BANGKOK, 28 June 2015 (NNT) – The Prime Minister has chaired the official opening ceremony of an event to commemorate four decades of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China.

At the opening of the celebration of the Thai-Sino diplomatic relations, Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha said that the two nations have acquainted for a long time, particularly in cultural and social aspects.

Gen. Prayut also mentioned of the high-level relations illustrated by 38 royal visits to China by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn as well as several government-to-government collaborations involving infrastructural and trade development projects.

He added that China has been Thailand’s number-1 trading partner, with an annual trade value of 72.6 billion US dollars, while the number of Chinese visitors to the country has been growing and is expected to reach six million this year.

The PM has already accepted an invitation from the Chinese government to attend a trade exhibition in Nanning, with the trip set to be his third visit to Asia’s number-1 economy so far.

Gen. Prayut said that Thailand and China will continue to enjoy close ties after 40 years of cordial relations.
