
BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra officially launched the “30-Baht Universal Healthcare Anywhere” program under the Ministry of Public Health, aimed at strengthening Thailand’s healthcare system and reducing non-communicable diseases (NCDs) across the country.
The program, which runs from May 1 to September 30, targets more than 38 million people and is expected to reduce public healthcare expenses by over 22 billion baht.
At the opening ceremony, PM Paetongtarn emphasized the importance of good health for the Thai people amid rapidly changing lifestyles. She stated that maintaining a healthy body is the foundation of true happiness and national progress, encouraging everyone to be aware of the impact of diet, exercise, and rest on their well-being.
The Prime Minister praised the efforts of Village Health Volunteers (VHVs), medical staff, and public health workers who play a vital role in connecting communities with the government. She highlighted the role of telemedicine and community outreach in increasing access to medical services, particularly for vulnerable populations.
The event was attended by over 10,000 people, including senior officials and numerous VHVs. PM Paetongtarn also visited 12 health education booths and distributed hearing aids to elderly citizens with hearing impairments. (TNA)
