PM Anutin leads New Year 2026 merit-making ceremony at Government House

Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, joined by his spouse and Cabinet members, took part in a traditional merit-making ceremony at Government House to mark the New Year 2026, featuring Buddhist chanting and alms-giving led by senior monks.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul and his spouse led the Cabinet in a merit-making ceremony to mark the New Year 2026 at Santi Maitree Building, Government House.​

The ceremony featured Buddhist chanting by 10 senior monks. Afterward, the Prime Minister and his spouse led Cabinet members in offering alms to monks in front of the Thai Khu Fah Building.



Somdet Phra Phutthachan, Chief Monk of the Eastern Region and member of the Supreme Sangha Council, served as the presiding monk for the chanting and alms-giving. Other senior monks included Somdet Phra Maha Ratchamongkol Muni, Phra Phrom Dilok, and Phra Phrom Sitthi. Monks and novices from Wat Molilokayaram also participated, bringing the total number of monks to 69. (NNT)
