BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul presided over the MOU Signing Ceremony on Cooperation in Preventing and Suppressing Technology Crimes today (Nov 6) at Government House, launching a coordinated campaign against online scams and other technology-enabled crimes.

A group of senior officials, including the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Minister of Digital Economy and Society, the Minister of Justice, and Ministers Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, also attended the event. The agreement outlines five operational priorities: strict law enforcement, asset seizure and disruption of financial channels, real-time interagency coordination, AI-based monitoring systems, and public education on digital safety and reporting mechanisms.

Anutin described cybercrime as one of Thailand’s top national security threats, warning that online scams are causing widespread harm to individuals and weakening public trust. The campaign seeks to stop scams before they spread by cutting off funding, closing legal loopholes, and holding both perpetrators and enablers accountable.

Under the new framework, participating agencies will pool intelligence and expand investigative reach through linked databases and advanced surveillance tools. Resources will be directed toward tracing illegal transactions, detecting fraud patterns, and accelerating prosecutions. Public engagement is also a core part of the strategy, with digital literacy efforts and nationwide communication campaigns set to launch in the coming months.

The government has pledged full support in terms of funding, technology, and policy backing to ensure the crackdown delivers measurable results. The campaign is set to support a long-term national effort to make Thailand safer, prevent the country from being used as a base for financial crimes, and restore public confidence in digital platforms.
