BANGKOK, Thailand – A speeding pickup lost control and crashed into a taxi, spun across the road, hit parked motorcycles, and finally slammed into a utility pole, leaving four people injured. Locals fled in panic as the driver appeared disoriented and later fell asleep in the police car.

CCTV footage from the Bang Nam Chued Sub Fire Station near Soi Sriwaree Noi, Bang Phli District, captured the pickup losing control around 8:20 p.m. yesterday. The truck veered into the opposite lane, striking a green-and-yellow taxi, which spun in the middle of the road. The pickup then collided with two motorcycles parked in front of the fire station, forcing riders to jump out of the way. The vehicle finally crashed into a utility pole. The taxi driver, two passengers, and several motorcycles were damaged, but the pickup driver remained unharmed.

The pickup driver, 30-year-old Thitipong, spoke in a slurred, drowsy voice, appearing intoxicated. He revealed that earlier in the evening, he had already crashed into a median in the same area, injuring one motorcyclist. After being instructed by police at the first incident to report to the station, he lost control again on a curve, causing the second crash. He denied drinking alcohol but admitted to possibly consuming kratom.

Police found an unknown liquid in a syringe in the vehicle, which was seized for testing. Thitipong’s urine test returned purple, and he was taken to Bang Phli Hospital for further checks before formal charges were filed. (TNA)

The driver, appearing intoxicated and drowsy, had already crashed earlier in the evening. Police are investigating possible drug involvement after a syringe and purple urine test were discovered.
