NAKHON NAYOK, Thailand – A herd of more than 30 wild elephants from Khao Yai National Park ventured into a residential area in the Sarika sub-district late Tuesday night, sending local residents into a panic.

The group, consisting of both full-grown adults and calves, emerged from the forest boundary at approximately 10:00 p.m., moving through the Kwan Nakhon village in search of food.

While many residents captured the rare and intimidating sight on their mobile phones, local emergency teams—including park rangers, disaster prevention units, and fire crews—were quickly deployed to secure the area and begin the delicate process of moving the animals away from human dwellings.

The coordinated push-back operation lasted roughly an hour and a half, utilizing vehicles and specialized tactics to guide the elephants back toward the Wang Ta Krai forest zone.

By 11:30 p.m., authorities successfully directed the entire herd back into the protected national park boundaries without any reports of injuries or significant property damage. (TNA)
