BANGKOK, Thailand – Transport Co., Ltd. has prepared over 1,000 buses and implemented comprehensive safety measures to support public travel during the Songkran holiday, while confirming that fares will remain unchanged to help ease passengers’ financial burden.
Deputy Managing Director for Operations Weerawat Pattanasathavornkul stated that from April 9 to April 12, passenger volume is expected to reach 160,000 to 180,000 people traveling to their hometowns. The company has arranged 1,000 to 1,200 regular and chartered buses to ensure sufficient capacity for all passengers.
Safety measures include vehicle inspections, driver readiness, and additional personnel at key terminals: Mo Chit, Southern Bus Terminal, and Ekkamai. Passengers are encouraged to purchase tickets by phone, mobile application, or at terminals, and to plan their journeys.
The company expects passenger numbers to rise by 5 to 10 percent compared to last year, partly due to higher fuel prices. Although the Department of Land Transport recently approved fare increases totaling 12 satang per kilometer on April 6 and April 8, 2026, authorities have agreed to temporarily freeze fares from April 6 to April 19.
This measure, coordinated by the Ministry of Transport, the Department of Land Transport, and Transport Co., Ltd., aims to reduce travel expenses while ensuring safe, convenient, and efficient service during the Songkran holidays. (NNT)
